This past January, legislation passed that reinstated a U. S. tax credit for qualified biomass stoves and/or heaters. Therefore, if you purchase a qualifying stove, insert or fireplace before Dec. 31, 2013, you’re eligible for a 10% tax credit up to $300. And if you purchased a qualifying appliance in 2012, it is eligible as well.
In addition to the cost of the appliance, you can also apply costs for professional installation toward the tax credit.
More than 30 Quadra-Fire® and Harman® home heating products qualify for the tax credit, as well as the Northstar
by Heat & Glo®, and the Constitution
by Heatilator® (both are wood-burning units).
