Get a U. S. Tax Credit for Qualifying Biomass Stoves
This past January, the United States Congress passed a bill as part of the “Fiscal Cliff” legislation that included a reinstatement of a federal tax credit for qualified biomass stoves/heaters. Therefore, if you purchase a qualifying stove, insert or fireplace in 2013, you may be eligible for a tax credit of $300. And since the tax credit was made retroactive, qualified stoves/heaters purchased in 2012 are eligible as well. In addition to the purchase price, you can also include the cost of professional installation, which is always recommended for proper and safe operation of stoves. More than 30 Quadra-Fire and Harman Home Heating products qualify for the tax credit, as well as the Northstar by Heat & Glo, and the Constitution by Heatilator (both are wood-burning units).
Quadra-Fire 5700 Step Top Wood StoveAfter purchasing your unit, simply download and print the official Manufacturer’s Certificate, which indicates that the product qualifies for the tax credit for preparing your tax return. Additional information and a list of qualifying products is available here.
